Best pet microchip scanner

This new microchip scanner is affordable and, with the accompanying app, performs functions no other can!

For many years I have helped people in my community and beyond to find lost pets. One of the services I provide is microchip scanning, implantation, and education.

When microchips came out in the 90’s we thought they were the holy grail, and no pet would ever be lost again. Now here we are 30 years later with the same problems! It is true that microchips help many lost pets find their way home, even years later as we see in the news, but more often than not they lead to a dead end.

The most pressing issue with microchips as I have seen in my experience is that the system is unnecessarily complicated, making it difficult if not impossible for the pet owner to understand. This results in many people not chipping their pets because they don’t see the value, and in others having chipped pets but not registering them. It also results in well-meaning people finding and keeping stray pets without getting them scanned for a chip.

Getting millions of people to do things the same way may seem impossible, but it isn’t when the system makes sense. Think of the humble ID tag. Anywhere in the world, if a person wants to protect their dog or cat, they place a collar with an identifying tag on the animal. If someone finds the lost animal, they will immediately look at the tag and call the engraved phone number (or scan the QR code with their phone if it is a next gen tag). If microchips were as simple as this, they would work every time.

I got very excited when I was contacted by Victor Kopach of the Animal ID company in Ukraine. He had seen my video about the plight of animal shelters in Ukraine and asked for my help in designing a new product to help lost pets all over the world.

Meet the next gen microchip scanner. The unit itself is lightweight and rugged, suitable for use in an animal environment like a veterinary office or shelter. With it you scan the pet like any other, but here’s where it gets interesting. The scanner screen will display the number of the chip that is in the pet, but that’s not all. The number will also display in the accompanying app on your phone, tablet, or computer. With one click you can run a check in all registry databases – more than 50! – and get results in seconds. (See this process in my YouTube video above). If you are scanning a found pet, this is a fast track to reach the owner and facilitate a reunion. If this is your pet or a client’s pet, with one click you can also initiate registration in the Animal ID system, at no charge.

This may not seem like a big deal if you’re not familiar with how things have been done for the last 30 years, but let me assure you it is a game changer. You can watch my other microchip videos if you want to know all about how the system doesn’t work. Today I am focusing on how it does.

The Achip Reader Pro just became available for purchase, and you can save 25% with my discount code FSP25. If you are a rescuer, missing pet consultant, or if you work in a humane society or veterinary hospital, you need to try this scanner. I’d love to hear about how it helps you in your work with animals in your community! You can email info@firststreetpets.com or comment on the YouTube video.

Thanks for all you do to help animals and their people!
